Glass chopped fiber is mainly used to strengthen thermoplastic. Fiberglass chopped strand mat can be used for reinforcing unsaturated polyester, vinyl resin, epoxy resin and phenolic resin. It is widely used in FRP hand paste and winding process, and also used in molding, continuous plate making, car and other processes. Chopped felt products are widely used in various FRP products, such as chemical anti-corrosion pipes, FRP lighting plates, models, cooling towers, car inner roofs, ships, auto parts, insulators, sanitary ware, seats, buildings, etc.
The short cut glass fiber from 50 mm to 60 cm in length can be sewn into short cut fiber or long fiber mat by sewing machine. The former can replace the traditional short cut felt bonded with adhesive in some aspects, while the latter can replace the continuous strand mat to a certain extent. Their common advantages are that they do not contain binder, avoid pollution in the production process, and have good permeability and low price.
The surface mat FRP products usually need to form a resin rich layer, which is usually achieved by the medium alkali glass mat. This kind of felt is made of medium alkali glass C, so it gives FRP chemical resistance, especially acid resistance. At the same time, because the mat is thin and the diameter of glass fiber is smaller, it can absorb more resin to form a resin rich layer, covering the grain of glass fiber reinforced materials (such as checkerboard) and playing a surface modification role.
